A & L Bakery

Who doesn't love a bakery?

Something about crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside can make the most devoted abandon their diets. A&L Bakery in Eastie is one of those hidden gems that seems to have existed forever but will never get old.

Rita, the lovely woman who is there every time I stop in, takes pride in what they have to offer. If you make it in early enough she has scrumptious pan pizza for $1 and you can pick your slice.

Unfortunately today I stopped by late in the afternoon so no pizza for me, but I couldn't say no to the basket of deliciously seasoned crostini. Perfect party sized bags are $1 and can be used in dozens of ways. Mina and I devoured them almost immediately.

Gigantic loaves of fresh French baguettes are $1.50, pies are made to order and specialty Italian pastries are made seasonally. Pink easter bunny
cookies for ¢0.75,
 yes please!
